Get more Facebook likes!

As a content marketer, I often find it easier to promote other businesses and brands via social media. Businesses that offer interesting and colourful products can be easier to promote, especially if they are fun products or services that people typically connect with and share with friends.

Web design and social media information is not always the coolest thing for people to say that they ‘like’ on Facebook. Many businesses find that they can do Twitter and other social networks but find Facebook the hardest. As it tends to be the place that people primarily visit to speak to friends.

The important thing for any business is to work out why you want to be liked on Facebook? The power of the ‘like’ is essentially in its viral nature. For example, when someone ‘likes’ your content or page, their friends see it and potentially comment on it and like it as well. As they can see their friend likes it, they are more likely to trust the page based on the credibility of their friends shared interests.

The big question is how do you get more likes on Facebook? Firstly, you need to live up to the likeable status and regularly post engaging and interesting content. You need to aim to create a community that people will want to be a part of and contribute to.

There are lots of things you can do but a simple starter would be to try a Facebook competition. Before you begin, think of clear goals for it and work out how you will manage it and follow it up. The important thing is to keep it simple, especially so the users are clear what you want from them. Decide what type of competition would be suited to your audience and pick a relevant prize with a deadline for entries.

Once you have posted details about the competition, encourage people to share it and perhaps provide a link on your website to spread the word. Also consider using Facebook ads, as a way of targeting specific people. For example – based on their age, location or precise interests.

Social Ant have just launched a competition to win two tickets to see The Stone Roses at Glasgow Green on Sat 15th June 2013 with special guests Jake Bugg, Primal Scream and  The View. If you are a resident of Scotland, please like our Facebook page here: http://on.fb.me/XwmTIn
