In case you haven’t noticed, there are two hot new live streaming apps, Meerkat and Periscope, which have bulldozed their way into the social media industry. They have already managed to rack up an impressive 12+ million users since their launch just a few months ago and are expanding content ideas every day.
Meerkat and Periscope are both livestreaming video apps which link to a user’s Twitter account to broadcast and watch video from around the world. Twitter is supporting them as they rely on their network and this is likely to increase. Some famous celebrities like Jamie Oliver, Roger Federer, Rio Ferdinand and even Madonna are also advocates and making use of the new tools. People are broadcasting all kinds of things like themselves cooking in the kitchen to countryside walks or shopping on the high street.
