Portal Mini Golf

Portal Golf is an indoor mini-golf venue with 18 uniquely designed golf holes inspired by 80’s retro arcade games, pop culture and Stranger Things.

THE BRIEF

With some cool themes and inspirations, the goal for their social media channels was to capture the atmosphere of the venue, build brand awareness and increase online bookings.
 
As an indoor venue, seasonality is an important consideration, and visitors are expected to increase on wet weather days or in cold winter months. The venue is also next door to World of Bowling so an add on deal was created to encourage people to book golf as an extension of their bowling game.
 
We identified the key audience profiles of families with kids, as it is the perfect place to visit during the holidays and to arrange kids birthday parties. The 80s theme would be popular with the parent audience and the Stranger Things aspects appeals to the kids. This also means that teenagers are interested and it is the ideal thing to do on a week day evening or at weekends with friends.

THE APPROACH

As a dark venue, it was a challenge to capture the highlights but video has proven to be the most engaging for capturing the fun atmosphere and feel of the mini golf. The short form video content included families or students having fun on the course, including using the selfie stations and trying each hole. Videos were created with 80s inspired music and included titles about regular offers or special seasonal offers.
 
With a cafe on-site, we focused on everything from the cheese pull of the pizzas to milkshakes or slushies being made, and alcoholic drinks for the adults. This encouraged people to use the cafe before or after their visit.

THE RESULT

Our social media management included posts across Facebook, Instagram, Google and TikTok. Booking conversions are measured with Meta Pixel and each month, there has been an average of 50 bookings through organic and paid sources on social media channels.
